We will be using a colored “clip chart” to monitor our behavior and classroom choices. Your child will have a clip on a chart that he/she will physically move up or down the chart, depending on his/her choices.
Please keep in mind that your child many not move every single day. Remaining on green throughout the day represents a “great day” and that your child is “ready to learn”. In order to move up, students must go above and beyond their behavior choices.
The following is an explanation of all the different levels:
Pink
Outstanding!
“Top Frog!”
Students who reach this pink level will be rewarded for their positive choices by receiving special privileges and a note sent home to celebrate their positive choices.
Purple
Great Choices!
“Frog-tastic!”
Students who continue to make positive choices move up to the purple level. They are one step closer to having outstanding classroom behavior!
Blue
Good Choice!
Making good choices will help students move to the blue section of the clip chart.
Green
Ready to Learn!
Everyone starts the day “Ready to Lean”! Students can “clip up’ or “clip down” throughout the day depending on their behavior choices.
Yellow
Think About it!
“Student Choice”
Students who receive a second warning will move down to yellow, A verbal warning has been given to students as a reminder prior to moving to yellow. Yellow serves as a reminder for students to think about the choices they are making.
Orange
“Teacher’s Choice”
Students who continue to make poor choices will move to orange. Consequences will be determined by the teacher. This may result in loss of a portion of “free choice” during recess or a time out in class.
Red
"Parent Contact"
Students who move to red will miss a privileged activity in its entirety. During this time, students will complete a behavior reflection log to be signed by a parent. Parents will be contacted via either a note, email, or telephone.
I believe that this system will be a positive way for students to monitor their choices and will give them behavior goals to strive for. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
